Special Week in Biel

28.04.2018 | Interdisciplinary project weeks are regularly organized as part of Bachelor degree courses at the Bernese University of Applied Sciences’ department of Architecture, Wood and Construction.   The seminar on the theme “Intermediate Use of Buildings and Industrial Wasteland” was held in a former factory in Nidau and supervised by Christopohe Sigrist, professor BFM of wood engineering, in collaboration with Beat Cattaruzza, DISPO initiator. Kathrin Merz focussed on issues linked with systematic and modular construction www.modulart.ch while Raffael Graf presented a selection of modular buildings created by the Bauart bureau. Students’ projects will be subject to interim evaluations prior to being judged at a final critical stage when Bauart will also take part. The aim is that students develop concepts within a week and transform them directly into prototypes. Various different tools and materials are available for them on the spot to provide each candidate with full potential for creativity.  We look forward to seeing the results !
