The architecture magazine DOMUS proposes in its current edition an article dedicated to prefabrication, in which the smallhouse is featured. This wooden, modular housing unit, « smallhouse.ch », is a concept offering approximately 75 m2 of optimized living space. Designed during the 2000s in the framework of research into the optimal use of resources and timber, it is entirely factory prefabricated and has the advantage of being mounted in a single day. Some forty of these houses have been erected so far in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
