Creation of new urban polarities

In an environment where the focus is on promoting densification within already heavily urbanized areas, territorial development strategies depend more particularly on the creation, or enhancement, of dense, mixed and interconnected centres. For the last edition of the ASPAN Cahiers (Swiss Association for National Development), Emmanuel Rey and Willi Frei were invited to illustrate the main issues involved in this type of project and presented three approaches in which the Bauart Bureau has been actively involved. Their article describes approaches implemented in the intercommunal sector in Malley, the Gare-Lac neighbourhood in Yverdon-les-Bains and the Oassis district in Crissier.
